Meliors Simms, a recent Artsbiz attendee of ours, has an open Studio day coming up on December 12th 2010. It’s a good chance for you to catch up with Meliors and see what amazing work she has been producing lately!

Details are as follows -
• Sunday 12 December 2010
• 3-7pm
• 15B Enderly Avenue, 5XRds, Hamilton (please park on the road and walk up the drive to her cottage-studio at the very back)
Meliors would love you to  bring along your friends to preview her new work as well as her works in progress including ‘My Antarctica’  which is her great big project this year which has not yet been exhibited anywhere- so come along and be the first to see this large scale hand-embroidered relief map of Antarctica! Plus lots of other work Meliors has been making with paper, thread, yarn and fabric.  You can get an idea of what she has been up to by browsing through Bibliophilia, her weblog at www.meliors.net

There will be old and new artist's books and textile works (including a range of embroidered and crocheted jewellery and wall art) for sale to suit every budget, so this is a chance to catch up on your gift shopping for the holiday season.  If you liked 'Punctuated Equilibrium' her installation in the Vitrine at Waikato Museum earlier this year, now is your chance to purchase one of the elements from the installation.    If you can't make it to the Open Studio, check out her Etsy shop (www.meliors.etsy.com) because she is busy restocking it with lots of new items.

Refreshments will be available and the first 14 lucky visitors to the Open Studio will receive a goodie bag chock full of handmade-by-Meliors surprises.
