The Common Denominator

Three women bring their song-writing talents to the stage at the legendary Vinnies in Raglan, on Thursday December 9th, starting at 8 pm sharp.  Sculpting stories in song that span acoustic pop to poignant ballads, folk rock to beach cruise, this is a powerful trio whose life journeys have been very different, but they have come together through their music.

Anne Taylor, Lynne Wilkins, and Lucy Cioffi first started discussing the idea quite recently, and are pleased with how quickly The Common Denominator has come together.   Artist and musician – Anne Taylor is constantly involved in at least one project.  Her new band Glyde has been playing together for some time, at events such as the Hamilton Gardens Festival earlier this year, but this will be their first local appearance.

Lynne Wilkins’ versatility as a musician and backing vocalist means that she is often appearing with other artists, and needs to make time for her own music.  She says that her band Restless has a new line-up.  I’m looking at some of the songs in an entirely new light because of the interpretation that the other band members bring to them.”

Plymouth-born Lucy Cioffi ’s first performance in Raglan at the local musicians club, with her Irish boyfriend Dougal Greer accompanying her on guitar, later led her to form her band The Hand me Downs.  Recalling that night, Lucy talks about the confidence that experience created: “There was a record producer in the crowd who came up to me afterwards and asked me to do some recording at his studio … I couldn’t believe it”.

All three acknowledge that this project could be the start of something, so make sure you can say you were there at the beginning!

Thursday 9th December, 8:00 pm sharp at Vinnies, Raglan.  Door $5.00
